Sledding Hill area has Problems
The Sledding Hill area and residents of our community have experienced some very undesirable activities lately.
These activities include:
-
Underage Drinking by a large group of young people in August on more than one occasion. Left behind was an EMPTY CASE of beer,
a baseball cap as they ran from the police, and many empty beer cans that were thrown into the woods for the residents
who live there to have to deal with the next morning. Many were thrown so far in the woods that because of poison ivy,
the homeowner now has to look at the mess these disrespectful youth left behind. The police were called,
the license plates were noted, and the police have beefed up patrolling this area. These cars will be watched for in the community.
-
The swimming pool was broken into, chairs were thrown in the pool and someone defecated into the baby pool.
Someone knows who did this and it needs to be reported to the police immediately if you have information.
-
Numerous egging incidents of cars on Ravenscraig and a few other streets.
-
Our wonderful Oak Hill Elementary was apparently broken in to and vandalism occurred.
Since this incident was NOT reported to Neighborhood Watch by any residents or the principal of the school I have no further details.
-
Toilet Papering houses also has occurred. Teenagers may think this activity is CLEAN FUN,
however it makes the homeowners have to possibly stand on dangerous ladders to try to clean this up.
This affects the neighbors as well who are spending weeks picking it out of their yards also.
If someone fell off a ladder and hurt themselves seriously trying to clean up that “GOOD CLEAN FUN” would it still be fun?
-
“Hanging out” which included laying on blankets and beer bottles left behind on a Thursday night around 11pm.
-
And as reported earlier, a drug arrest of a teenager who although doesn’t live in Chantilly Highlands, has affected this community in a very bad way.
This individual “hangs out” in our community and deals drugs to our youth. The police made the arrest,
however this individual is back out again and back in our community. Anyone seeing these “hanging out” activities that include drinking,
drug use or underage activities that are not appropriate are asked to call the police immediately!!!! They want to hear from us,
they cant help us keep our neighborhood a desirable place to live, if we aren’t willing to help them!
Please also report all incidents to Neighborhood Watch no matter how small you think it might be!

Please also report all incidents to Neighborhood Watch no matter how small you think it might be!
-
The incidents cannot be dealt with if they aren’t reported.
-
All of these incidents cost someone some money that they didn’t anticipate! Whether it is time, the community’s funds,
homeowners hard earned money, etc..
-
We all need to take responsibility for our children/teenagers actions and hold them accountable for their behavior or
this activity is going to continue to plague our community.
MORE SLEDDING HILL PROBLEMS
On September 3rd (Saturday) a satchel was found on the sledding hill that contained some disturbing items.
It was immediately turned over to the Fairfax County Police.
This satchel contained an opened beer bottle, a sketchbook filled with disturbing images and drawings,
photos of teenagers partaking in illegal activities, poems that were drug and suicide related.
The satchel was covered with drawings and buttons of a disturbing nature as well including profanity, weapons, death, drug use etc.
The satchel although it didn't contain any drugs at the time it was found, did smell strongly of drugs according to the police.
This satchel belonged to a South Lakes High School girl. It was found on OUR sledding hill - probably left here on Friday night September 2 2005.
The police have taken the satchel, they will contact the Police Officer for this High School and
this individual will have a records check by Fairfax County Police since it contained an ID, a Social Security Card, a School ID etc.
This individual will also be notified that they are not to be in our community participating in underage drinking, drug use or hanging out on our community property at any time.
The police officer said that he would AGAIN ask that the sledding hill area be heavily patrolled so that we can make sure that our community property is not a desirable place to HANG out and that we will not accept this type of behavior in our community.
We have to make it not an easy place to go. It should become known within "this type of circle" as "Don't go there, there are police all over the place"..... THIS IS THE TYPE OF ATMOSPHERE WE NEED TO CREATE. That takes some action from this community. You have to call.
The police officer AGAIN SAID THAT IF ANYONE SEES ANYTHING THAT IS SUSPICIOUS IN NATURE - CARS PARKED NEAR THE SLEDDING HILL,
playground, your street that do not belong there, FLAME FROM LIGHTERS BEING SEEN, BEER OR ALCOHOL DEBRIS LEFT,
THAT WE MUST MUST MUST CONTACT THE POLICE EACH AND EVERY TIME. If we call them,
then we will get more patrols to come in and try to help keep this area safe.
We cannot ignore drug paraphernalia left on our hill, beer or alcohol bottles, or left over debris from sexual encounters in our community!
We have to call the police so that the message is very clear - Do not use Chantilly Highlands as your hangout for this type of behavior.
We WILL NOT TOLERATE IT.
