Note:This study was contracted by the Long Range Planning Committee to the firm of Bengston, DeBell, and Elkin, to evaluate the feasibility and to develop cost estimates for capital improvements in Chantilly Highlands. Both walking trails and multipurpose courts were evaluated. Results were presented at the October board meeting and the November Long Range Planning Committee meeting, along with more detailed maps and drawings. These exhibits are available for review by contacting me at the address below.
Since the study was completed, the options for continued development have narrowed. Consideration of the multipurpose courts has been tabled by the board and the issue of recreational facilities for older children of the neighborhood has been referred back to the committee for further study. Of the two trail alignments described in the report, the northerly route was chosen over the southerly route for further consideration. Currently the board is considering a survey or poll of the neighborhood which could be used by the board to decide in whether to proceed with the walking trail project.
